Sometimes after a night of wine and good food the next morning can look a little… puffy. I eat healthy the majority of the time, but occasionally you need fried rice or pizza or cheeseburgers or tacos, what were we talking about?, oh yeah, EYES! Salty foods can definitely affect the look of my eyes the next morning. Let’s not dismiss the simplest culprit for swollen eyes.. not enough sleep, for whatever reason, like your partner is hogging the bed and your dog has to go outside, just as an example. This do it yourself eye mask is the perfect consistency and shape for swollen or tired looking eyes!
What you will need:
Latex Gloves (however many you want)
1/3 Cup Rubbing Alcohol, per glove
2/3 Cup Water, per glove
Hand or Dish Towel
Mix the water and rubbing alcohol together (I do this step directly in the measuring cup, less clean up). Then hold the glove open and pour the mixture into the glove. Tie the glove off at the base like a balloon knot. Put the gloves in the freezer and wait at least 2 hours before use. The alcohol keeps the glove from freezing completely and creates a nice slushy texture!
I like to take a thin, clean, dry towel and lay it over my eyes. Don’t put the glove directly on your skin, it’s very cold! Next, lay the glove on top of the towel. The position of the glove here is key! Lay the pointer finger and middle finger on one side of your nose, and the ring finger and pinky finger on the other side of your nose. Wrap the top of the glove with the excess towel. Leave it on for 20 minutes. If you’re going to ice more than once, leave it on for 20 minutes, take it off for 10 minutes, then put it back on for another 20 minutes. This is why I like to make more than one. Of course real sleep always looks better, but who has the time!?
