My Tour Diary- Day One

Day One- Love Your Melon

Minneapolis, Minnesota – November 28th, 2018

Good morning, Minneapolis! I woke up early (I’m on LA time don’t forget) because, my boyfriend, Jesse is doing a live stream for Love Your Melon. We had to be in their retail space by 9:30am so Jesse and his guitar player, Dory Lobel, could soundcheck for the performance. Anyways, this was a rare occasion where not only was Jesse ready and dressed before me, he had time to spare. I was still bundling up in our hotel room (I now know to factor in more time for scarf, hat, gloves, coat, and a prayer that I don’t freeze). So, my very sweet boyfriend went to the lobby to get us both coffee and brought it back to the room. While applying my new favorite Kylie lipgloss on my way out the door, I left the coffee on the counter. LEFT IT! We walked to the LYM retail space which was right next door to our hotel, the Hewing Hotel in North Loop.  Jess and I were with LYM back in February for the super bowl, and it’s always a joy to be around this organization. Side note- I bought my House of CB coat for the Super  Bowl in February 2018 (which was also in Minneapolis, MN), so I’ve officially only worn this coat in Minneapolis.

After Jesse’s fun acoustic performance of Beautiful Soul and Wasted accompanied by Dory, we headed upstairs to tour the LYM office space (which is gorgeous) and have some breakfast with the LYM team. And yes, I got a cup of coffee!

We walked back over to our hotel where we packed up our suitcases, which had been barely unpacked considering we have only been in Minneapolis for about 15 hours. Luckily, we had some time to spare before leaving and were invited to the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital. Dory decided to come with us and it was really special that he did. Dory played his guitar, Jesse sang, and I teared up in the corner! It was so emotional and very sweet. The kids were in such great spirits and so personable. We met a future pediatrician, a future chef, and one young girl that told us she has a naughty little sister!

We said our goodbyes to LYM and the children and off to the airport we went. Less than 24 hours in Minneapolis, I’m really doing this. Green Bay, Wisconsin here we come.

My coat, that I refer to as bathrobe chic, has officially crossed into a new state! Dory, Jesse, and I checked into our hotel, the Hyatt, dropped off our stuff, chilled for a minute and then headed out for a bite to eat. We walked to downtown Green Bay, yes walked in 20 degree weather, to The Cannery, a farm to table restaurant. The food was great, definitely recommend the brussel sprouts!

After dinner we walked back to the hotel where Dory turned Jesse and I on to a comedian, Jay Pharoah, by playing his interview with Steve Harvey on his iPhone. This made the walk pass by faster back to our hotel. Don’t get comfy, because the day isn’t over yet. Jesse has an audition that has to be put on tape and we have traveled with our own ring light to tape it, maybe the most LA thing I’ve ever done, travel with my own light on a tripod. Jesse has two scenes to learn so I take this time to FaceTime my parents. My dad proceeds to laugh so hard at his own story, that is only funny to him, but because it’s so funny to him my mom and I are now both laughing hysterically as well. We discuss our Christmas plans a little until Jesse is ready to tape his audition. Lights, iPhone, Action! I’ve now switched from girlfriend mode to scene partner and videographer. In one of the scenes we had to yell at each other, my character screams “GO AWAY!” and I for sure thought hotel security was going to come knock on our door at any moment. Jesse crushed both scenes, they’re on tape (aka my iPhone) and off to LA. It’s midnight now and I’ve decided that days like this are too cool and too rare not to document. So, I’m documenting it! I’m feeling very blessed as I get comfy under the covers and reflect on this amazing day. I’m off to bed. Sweet Dreams!
