My Tour Bus Diary- Show Three

Show Three- Iron City

Birmingham, Alabama- January 14th, 2019

Good morning, Mississippi? The bus is still moving but I’m up now and I know any second Bailey is going to go nuts for the bathroom. Lucky for me the bus is pulling over to gas up somewhere near Jackson, Ms on the way to Birmingham. I take Bailey out at the truck stop to do her business. Bailey and I hop back on the bus and lay back down for the last couple hours we have to drive. The total drive from Austin to Birmingham was about 14 hours on the bus. We make it to Birmingham and it’s a day off. (January 13th, 2019). Its football Sunday and the tv in our hotel room isn’t working so we walk to the hotel across the street and order some food and watch the football game. Once the game is over and the Eagles have lost, we head back to our room, but not before ordering 2 flatbreads to go! We get back to our room and it’s Netflix and flatbread time. The bar put the wrong flatbread in the bag so Jess goes back to exchange it. Back across the street in the freezing cold! We really wanted that flatbread!! Birmingham looks like a cool city and I can’t wait to see some of it tomorrow.

Show day! Bailey and I wake up early so I google a coffee shop nearby and we head out for an adventure. We make it to the coffee shop and its a really cute and cozy spot. Unfortunately, the coffee was awful. It’s okay though because Bay and I had fun getting there. We get back to our room and I really need to sweat. Probably because of the 2 flatbreads from last night. I quickly pack up all of my stuff and head to the venue, Iron City Birmingham, to drop off my suitcase and my dog. I signed up for an Orangetheory Fitness class but it won’t end until after the hotel checkout.

Jess is stilll at the hotel resting but I didn’t want to leave him my stuff and the dog to deal with when he gets moving. So I drop my suitcase and Bailey off on the bus and then head to my OTF class. There’s really nothing like a workout to get your mind right. I also got to take in some of the city on the drive to the OTF class. After class I head back to the venue, which has a shower! I take a shower and so does Bailey!

Jess makes me a coffee while I’m getting ready and I need it. I never drank my coffee from earlier and to be honest Jess has become a bit of barista. His coffee is really good. Jess has so much cool clothes on this tour and he really wants to acknowledge all the people that helped dress him and style the show so I take some videos and photos of him talking about his tour wardrobe.

If there’s good light in the dressing room, I will find it! Guess what!? This bathroom has really good light. So here’s a photo I call “wearing orange in really good light”. Please comment a better name for the photo below.

Time for Jesse to get dressed for the show and I have friends that are now inside the venue. I walk to say hi to Tyler and his wife Jackie. Tyler and I went to Ole Miss together and he was actually a house boy in my sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma. I watch the show with them from the balcony and all of a sudden it’s time for the encore. Jess comes back onstage and so does Bailey right behind him. BAILEY. IS. ON. STAGE. I am freaking out. How did this happen? Is she scared? Is she going to jump off the stage (she’s a jumper)? THANK GOD SHE GOT A SHOWER TODAY!! I immediately run backstages to make sure she’s okay. I get backstage and she’s a little shaky from the experience but mostly she’s just happy to see me. All in all she was okay and the audience LOVED it.

Tyler and Jackie come backstage after the show and say hi to Jesse and we all catch up for a minute. They have to leave but it’s perfect timing, because Jess has to go out for his VIP meet and greets anways. I walk Tyler and Jackie out and say goodnight. Jess finishes his meet and greets, we pack up the dressing room and head to the bus. Bailey has officially made her Resolution Tour stage debut. Another show down and we’re off to Nashville, Tn!
