My Tour Bus Diary- Show One

Show One- House of Blues

Dallas, Texas- January 11th, 2019

Bailey and I are all packed up and headed to Dallas, Tx! But before we meet up with the Resolution Tour, Bay and I are headed to our friend Stephanie’s to hang out for a few days. After a few bottles of Rose, a couple of good meals and some girl time, it’s time to head to the House of Blues Dallas. I made a quick stop on the way there to say hi to an old family friend, Don Poland. We got to sit and visit with him for 30 minutes before making it to HOB Dallas.

Finally, Bailey and I get to see where we will be living for 5 weeks and let’s just say it’s.. cozy! Having two tour buses this time means that we get a small bedroom in the back of the “band” bus for our little traveling family. The room has a bench seat with a desk and a full size bed. Above the bed is my favorite part, it’s a small closet with a hanging rod in it. This may not be exciting to you, but this means I don’t have to keep all my stuff under the bus, which is the norm and inconvenient. So, this closest is a luxury, I assure you. Sure I have to climb on the bed to access it and the doors swing and hit me sometimes if we’re moving, but I’m beyond grateful! My stuff is currently under the bus, because I just dropped it off so fast to leave for dinner, but I can’t wait to organize it all tomorrow. Stephanie and I get to the venue say hi to everyone and then head out to dinner. Jesse has some time before he goes on stage, so he joins us. Also meeting us for dinner is my sorority sister Allie, her husband Chris and their sweet 2 month old girl, Elizabeth, they drove from Shreveport La, to come to the show. Jesse, Stephanie and I meet them at Saint Anne’s restaurant where we dined and had a cocktail.

Jesse left a little before us to get back in time to change and prepare for his first Resolution Tour show. So, Steph and I finish up our cocktails and call a Lyft to pick us up, and the driver passes us. He drives right past us!! Now normally I wouldn’t care, except Jess goes on soon and it’s his first show. So I’m freaking out. The driver takes a lap around the block and makes it back to us. Then, I swear on my life, the driver misses the turn and we end up on a highway adding about 6 minutes to our drive. I am ready to pull over and run to the venue at this point. Stephanie is consoling me as I’m in a full panic. We finally pull up to the back of the venue, rush backstage, and we’re just in time. Jess is ready for stage. Everyone does a hands in cheer for the first show and then Jesse heads to stage, but not before a good luck kiss and this terrible selfie. I curled my hair for the show but it’s been hours and it’s raining so.. not great..of me.

Allie and Chris met us at the show (they had to drop off Elizabeth to the babysitter) and we all watched together from the front of house. I was really excited for this show because I have not seen it yet! I mean no one has really, but normally I have seen it run through a few times at rehearsal and this time rehearsals were in OKC and I wasn’t.

The show was incredible. I was blown away. I didn’t think he could top the Better With You Tour, but somehow he made it bigger and better.

After the show, Allie, Chris, Steph, and I went to a bar called Backyard. We ordered some beers and played Jenga. Once Jesse was done with his VIP meet and greets after the show, he came and met us for some shuffleboard and a beer. We ran in to a couple of sweet fans and one of them took this picture for us.

The bar closed and it’s back to the bus. I say bye to Allie, Chris and Stephanie and quickly grab some pajamas and my toothbrush from my suitcase under the bus. Jess, Bailey and I get snuggled up in our little room and it’s off to Austin, Tx.
